For my very first blog post I wanted to share some tips and tricks of how to save money for the back to school shopping! This post will mainly be focused on different sites and apps that, when combined properly, help you save money on items you need.
First of all, if this is your first time leaving for college, Target has a great college checklist that has most of the items you need to get for a dorm room. It is a great list so you do not forget some of the essentials! View and print the list here.
If you are 18 and a college student, I would recommend getting a Discover credit card. I signed up for one because they have great specials for college students and you can download the app for it to view all your transactions, payment deadline, how much you have left for the month, and your cash back! For the one I have, every person I refer we get $50 cash back! Now what can you do with cash back? Anything you want! You can use it to pay your bill, transfer it to your bank account, or even buy gift cards they offer at a discount only for this credit card. How do you get the $50 bonus? After the first time you use your credit card, you and the person that referred you each get $50! That certainly helps a lot when you're pinching pennies in college! Ebates: This site is amazing! You get to get cash back on all your purchases you make using this site. Here's how it works: Search what website you want, like Vera Bradley for example. It will show you how much cash back you will get for making a purchase and all the current sales and coupon codes. All you have to do is click the "shop now" button and it will take you to the site where it tracks your purchase, awarding you cash back from it! And there is also a referral program for this as well. If you sign up with some one's referral link, you get a $5 cash back bonus after you spend $25 just for shopping through Ebates. They have special bonuses they change every 3 months so you can get even more back. For example, this bonus period, if you refer 2 people and they make a $25 purchase using Ebates, you get a $50 cash back bonus! Every 4 months they send you a check with all your cash back from the past 4 months, or if you have a PayPal account you can get it directly deposited in there!
Beyond the Rack is one of my favorite sites for many reasons! They have different sales that start every day. You can get clothing, organization items like shoe racks, closet organizers, etc, area rugs, smaller kitchen appliances, tablets, toys, and so much more!
